About CoupleToyLab

CoupleToyLab is run by a small team that got tired of couples-toy reviews that rank on feature lists and never test the one thing that decides whether an app-controlled toy is any good: does the connection actually hold?

So we built a standardized way to measure it — the Sync Score — and we test every toy in-room and across distance before publishing a verdict. The reviews are first-hand, the rankings are independent, and we buy or source every toy ourselves.

We publish under the CoupleToyLab Team name to protect personal privacy, as is standard in this category. Reviews are not paid for, sponsored, or influenced by brands.

Every toy on CoupleToyLab goes through the same process before we publish a verdict:

• Sync Score (0–10) — our headline metric. We test latency, stability (drop rate), range, and pattern fidelity, both in-room and long-distance. See the full Sync Score methodology.
• Noise measurement — every toy is rated 1 (silent) to 5 (audible from another room) on our pip scale, for shared homes and discreet public play.
• Build quality — material, charging reliability, water resistance, and durability over time.
• Value — price relative to what you actually get, not just the sticker price.

For an app-controlled toy, the connection is the product. The Sync Score is our standardized 0–10 rating of how reliable that connection is in real use — the only one in the category. It's the average of four tested axes:

If a toy is unreliable, we say so. If a toy doesn't make our list, it's because it didn't earn it.
